This Privacy Policy describes how Broke College Eats ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Broke College Eats mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are handled securely by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us in plain text.
- Location Information: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show you nearby restaurant deals. If you grant background location access, the App may use your location while not in use to notify you about new deals near you. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
- Photos and Camera: With your permission, we access your photo library or camera so you can upload images when creating or editing deals. We only access photos you explicitly choose to upload.
- User Content: Content you create in the App, such as deals, descriptions, and images, is stored on our servers and may be visible to other users of the App.
- Usage and Device Information: We may collect basic technical information (such as device type and app version) to maintain and improve the App.

3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App. These services may process your data on our behalf:

- Map Services — used to display deal locations on a map.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Tracking
Broke College Eats does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at jasonhckim@gmail.com. Once deleted, your data will be removed from our active systems within a reasonable period.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including those provided by Google Firebase, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- You can disable location, camera, and photo permissions in your device settings at any time.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Broke College Eats mobile application (the "App") operated by Broke College Eats ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Description of Service
Broke College Eats is a location-based platform that helps users discover restaurant deals and discounts near them. The App allows users to browse deals on a map or list, save favorites, and view deal details including location and expiration information. Merchants and authorized users may create or edit deal listings.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the App. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the App complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
3. Accounts
- You may browse deals without an account, but certain features (such as saving favorites) require registration.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. User Content
If you create, upload, or submit content through the App (including deal listings, descriptions, and images), you retain ownership of your content. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content within the App for the purpose of operating and promoting the service.
You agree that your content will not:
- Be false, misleading, or fraudulent
- Violate any law or third-party rights
- Contain offensive, harmful, or inappropriate material
- Advertise deals that do not exist or have expired
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or that we determine is harmful to users or the platform, without prior notice.
5. Deal Accuracy Disclaimer
Deals listed in the App are provided by merchants and other users. We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, or validity of any deal. Deal terms, prices, and expiration dates may change without notice. Always confirm deal details directly with the restaurant before visiting or making a purchase.
Broke College Eats is not a party to any transaction between you and a restaurant. We are not responsible if a deal is unavailable, expired, or different from what was listed in the App.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Post fake, expired, or misleading deals
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute App content without permission
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
- Impersonate another person or entity
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, logo, and original content (excluding user-submitted content), is owned by Broke College Eats and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without our written permission.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time and request account deletion by contacting jasonhckim@gmail.com.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BROKE COLLEGE EATS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS, OR $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts located in California.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find deals near me?
Open the app and allow location access when prompted. Deals near your current location will appear on the Map and List tabs. You can also browse by category (Food, Coffee, Dessert, Drinks, and more).
Do I need an account to use the app?
No. You can browse deals without signing in. An account is only required to save favorites and sync them across devices.
How do I save a deal to my favorites?
Tap the heart icon on any deal card or deal detail page. You'll need to be signed in for favorites to be saved.
A deal I found was expired or incorrect. What should I do?
Deals are posted by restaurants and merchants, and details can change. Always confirm with the restaurant before visiting. If you find an incorrect or expired deal, email us at jasonhckim@gmail.com with the deal name and we'll look into it.
I'm a restaurant owner. How do I list a deal?
Contact us at jasonhckim@gmail.com with your restaurant name, location, and deal details. We'll help you get set up.
How do I delete my account?
Email jasonhckim@gmail.com from the address associated with your account and request deletion. We will remove your account and associated data within a reasonable period.
How do I turn off location access?
Go to your iPhone Settings → Broke College Eats → Location, and choose your preferred setting. Note that disabling location will prevent the app from showing nearby deals.
